It is indeed a pleasure and blessing to lead the Lauderdale County School District (LCSD). The tradition of success in the LCSD exemplifies our core beliefs in educating and supporting the whole child with excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts; while providing each student with needed and social-emotional support. Our district continues to have some of the brightest and most talented students in the state, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for each.

As you know, the LCSD has implemented the new Mississippi College and Career Standards in grades K-12 and continues to build capacity in our faculty and staff to strengthen our students’ academic achievement. We continue to search for more opportunities for students to be exposed to higher levels of learning such as dual credit courses and Career-Technical Education certifications in preparation for college and/or the workforce. Our commitment is to develop strong and competent members of society who can be proud of graduating from the Lauderdale County School District and remain a strong part of our community.

Our students continue to represent the district well in both athletic and academic competitions, and this is evident by the number of accolades received as of late. Additionally, the LCSD believes in incorporating the arts throughout the entire educational process, helping our students reach his or her full potential. Therefore, through partnerships with the Riley Center, MCC, the Mississippi Arts Commission, and many others, our students have opportunities to be exposed to the arts and artists from a variety of genres. Our goal in the Lauderdale County School District is to provide opportunities for all students K-12 by providing various learning opportunities.

Equally important to high academic standards is our commitment to school safety. Our district is fortunate to have four outstanding community schools who share in this commitment: Clarkdale, Northeast, Southeast, and West Lauderdale. We believe in providing a safe and caring environment for all students each day and in everything we do. Parents play a vital role in helping to ensure the safety of each school by observing school policies and procedures and taking extra precautions with car safety while driving on campus.  Throughout the school year, teachers and school leaders will also promote the importance of safety for students both on and off campus, and know that by working together we can continue to have safe schools centered on meeting the needs of all students.

The Lauderdale County School District believes in the power of strong parental involvement. Each of our community schools has many opportunities planned throughout the year where parents are invited and encouraged to attend. We urge you to take an active role in your child’s learning by communicating regularly with your child’s teacher, helping have your child at school and on time, attending parent/teacher conferences, ensuring homework is completed nightly and supporting the goals and policies of the school.  At the same time, we are committed to keeping you informed throughout the year of our special events, weather emergencies, or just simple reminders.  We will continue to use our AIM Notification System (automated phone system), our website (www.lauderdale.k12.ms.us), Facebook, and Twitter to disseminate information to you.

In closing, as I enter my first year as your Superintendent, it is an honor and pleasure to serve this community in our mutual pursuit of providing the finest educational system possible for the children of Lauderdale County. I would like to thank the LCSD family for the welcoming atmosphere, positive environment, and for putting your faith in me to lead this district. I firmly believe, with your support, the best days of the Lauderdale County School District lie before us.
