Career Readiness

Preparing Every Student for Success Beyond Graduation

At Lauderdale County School District, Career Readiness means equipping every student with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to succeed in college, career, or military pathways after high school. Our programs align with the Mississippi Department of Education’s College and Career Readiness Standards and are grounded in real-world applications, strong partnerships, and personalized exploration.
What is Career Readiness?

Career Readiness is more than preparing for a job, it’s preparing for life. It includes academic knowledge, technical skills, soft skills, and the mindset students need to thrive in college, careers, and the military.

What is LCSD's Career Readiness Framework?

The Lauderdale County School District Career Readiness Framework is designed to ensure that every student, from kindergarten through graduation, is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to make informed decisions about their future. Grounded in the belief that career readiness is a K–12 journey, this framework provides a clear, developmentally appropriate pathway that connects classroom learning to real-world opportunities.

Our vision is to empower all students to explore their interests, understand the wide range of career pathways available, and graduate prepared for college, career, and life. Whether students plan to pursue a four-year degree, enter the workforce, join the military, or complete a technical or trade program, our goal is to support each learner in discovering their strengths and building a personalized plan for success.

This framework is built around five key pillars: Explore, Engage, Experience, Reflect, and Launch, each of which guides students through career awareness, exploration, and preparation. By aligning academic instruction with authentic, hands-on career experiences, we help students develop the confidence, curiosity, and readiness to pursue their goals. The Career Readiness Framework reflects our commitment to preparing Lauderdale County students not just for graduation, but for a future filled with opportunity.
