LCSD & Public Library Partnership: Library Card Opt-Out Form
February 20, 2026
Dear LCSD Families,
The Lauderdale County School District (LCSD) is committed to fostering a culture of literacy and wants to help every student become a great reader. We are excited to partner with the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library to provide all LCSD students with a free public library card, unless you choose to opt out.
What This Means: This program is an additional educational resource for LCSD families. It is meant to support and enhance what your child is already learning in school, not replace it. There is no cost for this card, and there is no requirement to use it. We want to ensure every student has access to a wide range of educational resources whenever they need them.
These include but are not limited to:
- Reading Materials: Physical books, magazines, and e-books.
- Digital Tools: Electronic databases and educational research materials.
- Academic Support: Online homework help and standardized test prep.
- Technology & Community: Computer access and special educational programming.
This initiative is just one more way LCSD works with the community to provide helpful resources for your family’s success.
How It Works: To make your child’s library card, LCSD will share basic student and guardian information (names, addresses, birthdays, and guardian email).
Privacy and Rules:
- No Selling Information: Your information will never be sold or shared for marketing.
- For Learning Only: This data is only used to provide educational services to students.
- Your Rights: You have the right to inspect any tools used to collect this information.
- Yearly Notice: This letter serves as your annual notice about the release of directory information for school partnerships.
If you want your child to receive this free resource, you do not need to do anything. If your student already has a library card, they will not get a second one. Free public library cards are expected to be available in late April 2026 and will be delivered to students at school.
How to Opt Out: If you do not want your student to receive a free library card, you must opt out within 15 days (March 7, 2026) of this notice by completing the online opt-out form here:

Managing Your Library Card: Once your student’s card is issued, the account is managed by the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library. If you have questions about library memberships, need to update your contact information, or have questions, please contact the library directly at 601-693-6771. LCSD cannot access or change library account details.
