Lauderdale County School District Career and Technical Education

Clarkdale, Northeast Lauderdale, Southeast Lauderdale, & West Lauderdale

 

Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for the Lauderdale County School District are located on all of the district’s middle and high school campuses. These programs are organized so students develop both vocational and academic skills that give them strategic labor market advantages to compete for good jobs. The vocational curriculum includes a combination of classroom and technology instruction, career exploration, hands-on laboratory work, and on-the-job training—augmented by an active network of student organizations.

  • Cyber Foundations 

  • Early Childhood Education

  • Educator Preparation 
  • Exploring Computer Science 

  • Family and Consumer Science 

  • Health Service* 

  • Keystone and Exploring Computer Science
  • Law and Public Safety 

  • Work Based Learning

*Student Prerequisites for Health Science:

  • C average or higher in Biology I, English, and Math

  • Passed the state Biology test

  • TABE reading score or instructor approval

Additional Opportunities at Ross Collins Career & Technical Center

In partnership with the Meridian Public School District, students of the Lauderdale County School District may also enroll in vocational programs offered at Ross Collins Career and Technical Center, including:

  • Architecture Drafting

  • Automotive Service

  • Collision Repair

  • Culinary and Related Foods

  • Information Technology

  • Teacher Academy

  • Welding Technology

 

 

Eligibility and Credit Information

All courses (except 7th–9th grade courses and CPE) are open to all 10th–12th grade students.
Students may earn two Carnegie units per year for two years. A lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in CTE courses.
